CLARIFICATION REGARDING IRB LAW 3 – REPLACEMENTS/SUBSTITUTES

The RFU has determined that, for all matches in the English Clubs Championship at Levels 2 and below and all Powergen knockout cup matches, the RFU Regulations regarding Replacements will not be amended to reflect the new IRB Law 3.  All teams participating in these Competitions are required to have front row cover for all front row positions.

For the avoidance of doubt, teams must have cover for all 3 front row positions on the first and second occasion for League matches at Levels 2-4 and all Powergen Cup, Challenge Shield, Intermediate Cup and Junior Vase matches.

For Levels 5 & below league matches, teams must have cover for all 3 front row positions on the first occasion only.

For full details, refer to the following Regulations:

English Clubs Championship – Regulation 11 (pages 58/9 of the RFU Regulations and Competitions Handbook 2004/05).

Powergen Cup/Challenge Shield – Regulation 12 (pages 142/3 of the RFU Regulations and Competitions Handbook 2004/05).

Powergen Intermediate Cup – Regulation 10 (page 157 of the RFU Regulations and Competitions Handbook 2004/05).

Powergen Junior Vase – Regulation 11 (page 169 of the RFU Regulations and Competitions Handbook 2004/05).
